Literature Text

She paced back and forth on the front porch
Looking out into the rain’s gale
It seemed like the weather portrayed her heart

She was so angry yesterday… so marred
She had a blameworthy feeling as her lips
Poured out how much she hated him.

Her heart bawled for her mouth to stop
But through her bitter tears
She screamed at him, how much better her life would be

If he left.

He looked to hurt, but then out of his mouth
Poured just as angry words back to her
He called her a selfish bitch, even threw his hat at her.

He drove past their house again and again
Slowing down only at a distance away,
Peering to see if she was even home.

He knew she would be better off without him
She didn’t need him… but he loved her
He picked up his cell phone, but threw it down

Breaking it against the dashboard.

She slammed the door, he drove off
Stubborn psyches were the loosers.
While the bridge was burned,

In the ashes
Another love was lost

To foolish pride.
